A few hours of maintenance can extend the life of your hiking stuff

If you're like me, when you get home from a hiking trip, the last thing you want to do is clean up your equipment, deal with the scraps of trash and uneaten food, and get everything properly stowed and ready to go for the next outing.

But as Allison Woods points out in an article on gear storage from a past issue of Washington Trails magazine, properly cleaning and storing gear can add years to its life. And considering the cost of equipment these days, as she points out, it is a wise investment strategy to take care of your gear!
